Encouraging and supporting a life-long career of learning and innovation, our broad curriculum allows students to practice real engineering through a solid foundation of both theory and hands-on experience.
With a strong focus on design, undergraduate students are required to complete a design and build project in their second year, followed by a more advanced project in third year, culminating into a major research project in final year. Masters students also undertake research and design projects.
The Design and Build Competition is held each year during O'Week. Students work in teams, coordinated by a senior student team captain, to design, build and deliver their project based on a theme set by the School. Learn More.
The aim of the final year project in the School of Mechanical Engineering is to provide solutions to engineering problems related to industry or to scientific research, with emphasis on project management and effective communication. Learn More.
