Abstract:
The calculation of power transmission into a cylindrical shell requires the computation of two orthogonal sets of responses of the shell. In the published paper, the total power transmission was obtained by summing the power transmission from each orthogonal set; however this is incorrect. The correct method involves determining the total response from the two orthogonal sets and then calculating the power transmission using the expressions for the total velocity and total force.
